Tell us a bit about yourself, David.

I’m a British artist. I came out here a few years ago, with a view to leaving within a few months, and that still hasn’t happened – so I guess I like it here.

How long have you lived in WeHo?

I’ve been in WeHo since I got to LA, so almost 3 years now. I keep toying with the idea of trying a new neighbourhood but I can’t leave the convenience of this area quite yet.

How long have you been a WeHo Pedals Bike Share member?

About 8 months (I think), so I was one of the first members when it was introduced.

How has Pedals changed the way you get around?

Most of my day-to-day life happens in a 5 mile radius of my home, so it’s made journeying around a lot quicker, cheaper and less stressful. I save money on gas, parking and it means I’m regularly being active.

What’s your favorite place to ride?

SMB down to Beverly Hills is great. There’s also a bike lane for a lot of that stretch which makes things a lot easier.

And your favorite local spot you love to recommend?

I can’t recommend The Den Meditation on La Brea enough. It’s my happy place.

What would you tell someone thinking about joining WeHo Pedals Bike Share?

Just do it! There’s literally no reason not to. It’s cheap, it’s simple and it gives you a chance to get around the city without adding to the smog. Driving is such unnecessary stress in LA and WeHo Pedals is a great alternative.

WeHo Pedals Is Bringing You More Places to Pedal!

WeHo Pedals Is Bringing You More Places to Pedal!

See the expanded system area at WeHoPedals.com

We’ve expanded the WeHo Pedals system area giving you more places to explore while you Pedal! The system area now goes further along Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards and includes a drop zone at Runyon Canyon, making those previously expensive out of system area stops easy and affordable.

The City of West Hollywood launched WeHo Pedals in August 2016. WeHo Pedals offers 150 “Smart Bikes” at stations throughout West Hollywood, enabling car-free commutes and affordable traffic-free short trips around town and now into the heart of Hollywood!

You can now use WeHo Pedals to cruise the Hollywood Farmers’ Market on Sunday or take in a show at the Pantages Theater. Simply find the nearest bike rack and lock up your Pedals bike for a $2 fee. Remember, you can always put a bike on hold (for up to 60 minutes) if you’re not ready to end your reservation.

If you’re more interested in fitness, then Pedal on over to Runyon Canyon where you can lock up at our new drop zone for free. Now, instead of having to search for parking you can get right to your hike!

Westside Rides Regional Integration

coming soon

Hey WeHo Pedalers!

We’re excited to tell you about our progress regionally integrating the Westside Rides System.

We’re using the latest technology to develop a Westside Rides network — so you’ll be able to use your WeHo Pedals bike share membership whenever you are in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, or at UCLA (launching fall 2017).  Your ride time will carry over to whatever Westside Rides city you are riding in, and you’ll even be able to lock up in these other systems without paying the $20 Out of System fee!

We can’t wait to launch this state-of-the-art bike share network, bringing together the cities of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood with better bike share for all.

Stay tuned for more status updates of this regional integration!

City’s WeHo Pedals Bike Share Program Celebrates Pride in June

pridebike

The City of West Hollywood’s bike share program, WeHo Pedals, is celebrating Pride. A limited number of WeHo Pedals bicycles have been converted into #PrideBike bicycles throughout the month of June. Hop on and post a selfie with any #PrideBike using any major social media platform with the hashtag and automatically be entered for a chance to win an annual WeHo Pedals membership — #PrideBike is part scavenger hunt, part contest, part rainbow pride, and all fun.

The City of West Hollywood and Christopher Street West (CSW) will host the 2017 LA Pride Festival in at West Hollywood Park from Friday, June 9, 2017 through Sunday, June 11, 2017. NEW Employee Benefits Program

Employers – are you looking for a new way to recruit and retain the best talent? Want to encourage a healthy, active, fun work environment?

Offer your employees a WeHo Pedals bike share membership!

Introducing the Employee Benefits Program

WeHo Pedals now offers bulk pricing for employers who wish to provide the benefit of a year of bike share to their employees for as little as $19 per employee (save $80 per membership!).

employee benefits plans

How Does It Work?

You provide bike share to your employees, and we’ll give you steep discounts.
Simply choose a tier – All Staff or Partial Staff. Then we’ll provide you with promo codes for participating employees so that they can create an account. Your employees are responsible for all fees and charges accrued beyond their daily ride time; you’re simply gifting them with an Annual Membership.

The Benefits of Bike Share

  • Decreased Absenteeism
    • People who commute by bike for 30 minutes, 5x/week, take half as many sick days as those who don’t.
  • Increased Productivity
    • Studies have shown that cycling has calming effects, makes people happier, and boosts brain power.
    • Exercising before work raises an employee’s productivity by an average of 15%
  • Reduce your Carbon Footprint
    • Bike share is the most environmentally friendly form of transit; for every mile pedaled rather than driven, 0.82 fewer pounds of the pollutant CO2 enters the atmosphere
    • Biking to work can also reduce transportation spending for both employer and employee, as well as commute time related to traffic and parking.
  • Attract the Next Generation of Employees
    • Millennials are more inclined to work for employers who “stress their environmental and social record”[1] – increasing your environmental impact can give Millennials a stronger incentive to join your team

NEW Low Income Resident Plan – $7 / month

Low Income Plan WeHo

Our goal is to make bike share affordable for all members of our community. To make WeHo Pedals accessible for people in low-income households, we now offer reduced membership pricing for West Hollywood residents who are 18 or older and live in an income qualifying household (restrictions apply for college students). Qualified applicants will receive an annual membership at the discounted rate of $7/month. This discount provides those in low-income households with the opportunity to make manageable monthly payments rather than the larger, upfront cost associated with the Annual Plan.
