WeHo Pedals Status

Dear WeHo Pedals User,

As you may have read on the fliers posted on all WeHo Pedals bike parking hubs throughout the City of West Hollywood, our WeHo Pedals bike share program will officially end service at 11:59 p.m. on August 30, 2019. In preparation, we will begin reducing the number of available bikes throughout the City beginning Wednesday, August 28, 2019. A limited number of bikes will be available at City Hall’s bike racks for use through August 30, 2019. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Important News about WEHO PEDALS

The City of West Hollywood is announcing a change for the WeHo Pedals bike share program: On August 30, 2019, WeHo Pedals will discontinue operations.

Current WeHo Pedals members will still be a part of the regional Bike Share Connect System, which is comprised of Beverly Hills Bike Share (City of Beverly Hills), Breeze Bike Share (City of Santa Monica), and Bruin Bike Share (UCLA). Members will continue to have access to bikes at stations outside of West Hollywood in these locations. In addition, West Hollywood will continue to offer Bike Share Connect users free drop-offs at existing bike racks in West Hollywood, however, bikes part of this program will not be regularly available for rental in West Hollywood after August 30, 2019.

We understand that this change will impact current WeHo Pedals users. Bike Share Connect will not be able to provide refunds to members; users should plan accordingly to anticipate whether to renew current memberships. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Stay connected with updates and information at the City of West Hollywood’s Bike Share webpage at www.weho.org/bikeshare.

For details about Bike Share Connect for current members, please visit www.bikeshareconnect.com or download the Social Bicycles app on the App Store or get it on Google Play.

For questions or concerns regarding this update, please contact Coby Wagman at cwagman@weho.org. Rental inquiries and other general customer service questions should be directed to WeHo Pedal’s customer support team at (323) 900-0669.

3 Places to Watch the LA Marathon

The LA Marathon is back in town this weekend, so get out your signs and warm up your vocal chords because the route goes right through the Bike Share Connect system area!

We’ve picked out 3 fun spots where you can cheer on the runners this year.

  1. Mile 13 – 14: Sunset Strip Chateau Marmont

Just about the halfway point for the marathon, the Sunset Strip is a classic LA landmark! Take some pics as the runners stride past LA’s iconic Hollywood royalty hangout.

  1. Mile 17: Rodeo Drive
Who hasn’t heard of Rodeo Drive? This legendary street is one of Beverly Hills’ most famous locations, filled to the brim with high-end fashion. Grab an iced latte and relax on the sidelines as the athletes run past Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and those steps Cher walks down in Clueless.

  1. Mile 26: Finish Line

The finish line is in downtown Santa Monica on Ocean Ave, but watch out for traffic as thousands of visitors will likely be pouring in to watch the finish. Take the Expo Line and ride Breeze into DTSM.

May Is National Bike Month

May is National Bike Month and the City of West Hollywood is celebrating the benefits of bicycling by encouraging community members to leave their cars at home and hop on a bicycle to get to work or to grab a bite to eat across town.

The City of West Hollywood joins communities from coast to coast to showcase the many benefits of biking. Organized by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month helps to promote interest in healthy, sustainable, and economic transportation options; from 2000 to 2013, the number of bicycle commuters in the United States grew by more than 62 percent. Whether community members bike to work or school; ride to save money or time; pump those pedals to maintain health and respect the environment; or simply to explore local community, National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle.

New WeHo Pedals members will receive 20-percent off of new Annual Memberships in May when signing-up online at www.wehopedals.com and entering the BIKEMONTH2018 promo code. The annual membership gets users 90 minutes of ride time for 365 days across four bike share systems. The promo code will be valid through Thursday, May 31, 2018.

The City of West Hollywood will host its monthly midday WeHo Pedals Bike Share Basics class on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the WeHo Pedals Bike Share Hub located on Santa Monica Boulevard and N. Olive Drive. The class is a fun, hands-on experience that aims to educate and encourage community members to use the bike share system as informed, safe, and lawful cyclists. In this 90-minute workshop, participants will learn how to unlock, adjust, and use all of the features of a WeHo Pedals Bike Share bike while practicing safe riding skills. The workshop will include a group ride on WeHo Pedals bikes. Participation in the class is free and space is limited to 15 participants.
